Level 2: FAQs

Will my Waste Management General Waste and Garden Waste residential wheelie bin still be collected while we are under the alert level periods?
Yes. Waste collection is an essential service and we will be operating. However, there may be some collection delays due to COVID-19 restrictions. If your bin is not collected at the normal time, please leave it kerbside and we will get to it as soon as possible.

Should I continue to recycle?
It is important that you put waste and recycling into the correct bins on the normal days so we can collect it as quickly as possible for you and your recycling can be sorted for recycling at the material recovery facilities. 

Can I go to my local transfer station?
Yes. Transfer stations are open to the general public. 

Additional safety requirements will be in place to meet social distancing, hygiene and contact tracing requirements.

These will be communicated at each transfer station when you arrive. Please follow the instructions from our team to keep yourself and our team safe.

Can I still order a skip online or over the phone?
Yes. We continue to provide skip services, with some additional safety rules:

  • we must be able to deliver and collect the bin without breaching the 2m physical distancing rule 
  • any household waste is placed into bags before it is put in the skip
  • the bin must not be overloaded – we must be able to put a cover over the bin to be able to transport the waste for disposal.

Can I have my FlexiBin collected?
Yes. FlexiBins can be purchased through our retailers and removed by Waste Management, with some additional safety rules. 

To remove your FlexiBin, additional safety requirements must be followed to protect you and our team under Alert Level 2:  

  • we will only collect the bin if our team can maintain the 2m physical distancing rule
  • any household waste has been placed into bags before it was put into the FlexiBin.

Are you still signing up wheelie bin customers and delivering bins?
Yes, waste services are an essential service during COVID-19.

Are you doing on-property collections at Level 2?
Yes, your normal scheduled service will recommence.
