In light of the evolving situation regarding COVID-19, I wanted to update you on Waste Management’s current response.
Safety is always our first priority. Waste Management is carefully following the guidance and instruction from the Ministry of Health and making changes to our operations to ensure the safety of our people, our customers and the community.
Along with providing support for any team members who may need to self-isolate in the future, we have increased our focus on good hygiene practices (including availability of hand sanitiser gels) and requested team members no longer shake hands, or hongi as a greeting in business or social situations.
In addition, yesterday we ceased all non-critical business travel for our teams. This may mean that meetings we have had scheduled with our customers, partners and stakeholders will need to be rescheduled or held via Skype.
We are also leveraging our remote access technology infrastructure, which enables our teams to work from home, should that be required.
We continue to review and update our pandemic plan, as well as business continuity plans for our individual sites and branches across every region. This will enable us to respond promptly to the situation as it changes either across New Zealand or within each region.
This process will continue for the foreseeable future, so we are ready to act as long as the situation remains uncertain for us, for our customers and for the community.
Finally, I can reassure you that we have not identified any supply chain issues for servicing customers and/or any business interruption to our regular operations at this stage. We are confident we can continue to meet the needs of our customers.
We understand this is a difficult time for us all, as we assess the impact of COVID-19 and make necessary adjustments. We will keep you informed of any changes to our operations that will impact our ability to service our customers across New Zealand through our website.
Otherwise, please reach out to our team if you have any concerns, questions or specific requests regarding your waste and environmental services.
