AUCKLAND REGIONAL LANDFILL RESOURCE CONSENT APPROVED

Updated 15 June 2021

As you may be aware, Waste Management has been granted resource consents for the development of Auckland Regional Landfill, subject to many conditions. A decision on our Private Plan Change application, which will create a precinct in the Auckland Unitary Plan, has not yet been received.

You can view the independent commissioners’ full decision and conditions imposed in the resource consent on Auckland Council’s website HERE.

We are very pleased with the decision and believe a new landfill and energy park to replace Redvale is critical infrastructure required to safely manage the residual waste created by the wider community.

Our team is now reviewing the commissioners’ decision in detail.

There is the opportunity for submitters to the original application to submit an appeal to the resource consent. You can view information on how to do so on the Council website HERE.

We thank everyone who has been involved in the project to date, and particularly all the submitters who have given much time and energy to the hearing process, and look forward to working with community groups on this project as it is developed.
