Our Auckland HQ scoops Property Industry Awards

Waste Management’s new “world-class” Auckland headquarters has won the supreme award at the 2020 Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards.

Our facility was up against 114 other nominees, and was selected by judges to take home the Rider Levett Bucknall Supreme Award, on top of winning the Resene Green Building Award and the CBRE Industrial Property Award.

Waste Management was also recognised for Excellence in the RCP Commercial Office Property Award.

It’s a wonderful achievement, says Managing Director Tom Nickels, and one the entire company should be incredibly proud of.

“Our Auckland HQ was built to encapsulate two of our key pillars – safety and sustainability – as well as help drive a strong team culture. We think it’s done just that.”

Judges describe it as: “a fit-for-purpose, world-class development which innovatively combines operational and non-operational activities whilst improving corporate welfare.

“In an industry not readily acknowledged as innovative, Waste Management New Zealand is setting themselves a new benchmark through a focus on sustainability, innovation, workplace design and a collaborative owner and tenant relationship to lead the way in industrial processing.”

The project was a collaboration between Waste Management and Stride Property Limited. Architects Jasmax designed the corporate office, with Eclipse Architecture designing the truck workshops, including Waste Management’s electric vehicle innovation hub.

The annual awards were held at Spark Arena last night. The black-tie event, which has been twice postponed due to COVID-induced restrictions on gatherings, is one of the largest awards dinners in New Zealand attracting around 1,600 people.
