Tracey Passfield - Operations Supervisor

Tracey Passfield - Operations Supervisor

Operations Supervisor for the Hawke’s Bay Tracey Passfield shares what working at WM New Zealand means to her.

How long have you worked for WM New Zealand? Has your role changed?

I started as a temp working on the new Elemos commercial programme (Elemos is WM New Zealand’s operating system) with the Hastings team around two and half years ago.

I then moved across to a full-time role as Operations Supervisor, building a team to look after our residential customers and the Napier municipal contract.

Describe your job in a nutshell.

I see my role as one of support, to empower my team to be the best in our area. To be mindful of the safety of our community and each other. To achieve their daily routes in a sustainable and timely manner.

What is the best part of what you do?

The best part is the people I work with, near and far. Seeing them succeed, happy, and pulling together as a team to help each other out. I am proud of each and every one of them - they all have something special to offer every day. WM New Zealand is a great place to come to every morning.

What are the challenges?

Every day presents a new challenge. Being regional there can be some isolation from the rest of the business, but investment in communication technology and visits to the other branches helps with this. I have been fortunate to visit the Taranaki, Gisborne, Wellington, and Auckland branches, and have been able to reach out to all those I have met.

What would you like people to know about WM New Zealand?

It is a very innovative and forward-thinking company that takes ownership of its responsibilities very seriously, whether it be the team, our customers, the community, the environment or Aotearoa’s future generations.
