Update 16 July 2020

Auckland Council has announced details of the consent hearing, which are available on their website here. 

Both the Resource Consent Hearing and the Private Plan Change processes will be held together. 

Hearing date and location

The hearing will run for 20 days from Monday 9 November, four days a week, for five weeks, through to Friday 11 December. 

Dates are:
Monday 9 – Thursday 12 November 
Tuesday 17 – Friday 20 November 
Tuesday 24 – Friday 27 November 
Monday 30 November– Thursday 3 December
Tuesday 8 December – Friday 11 December.

If needed, another three days are scheduled as overflow days.

The hearing will commence at 9.30am at the Warkworth Town Hall each scheduled day. Additional details, including the commissioners who will be on the Hearing Panel, and other directions relating to the hearing can be found on Council’s website here.

Late submissions

Waste Management confirmed with Council some time ago that we generally won’t oppose any late submissions being accepted by the Hearing Panel. This was in case the COVID-19 Level 4 restrictions continued for many months and impacted anyone being unable to submit by the notified deadline. 

The final deadline for submissions has now been set by the commissioners and submissions will be accepted on both the plan change and the resource consent applications up until 31 July 2020. This leaves time for those submissions to be considered by Council officers prior to finalising the report that is required under the Resource Management Act (a section 42A report). 

After this time, the Hearing Panel will consider whether to accept any further late submissions. Either way, all submitters will have the opportunity to add more explanation to their written submission in any evidence for the hearing.
