Waste Management is Aotearoa’s leading materials recovery, recycling and waste management provider, with over 1600 team members across 70 locations.
Each year we collect over 1,000,000 tonnes of waste and recycle well over 200,000 tonnes. We are the largest composter in New Zealand, the largest waste-to-energy provider and have the largest commercial electric fleet in New Zealand, all powered by electricity from waste.
As a team, we are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to redirect, neutralise and use waste.
In 2021 we launched our revised strategy – Our Circular Strategy – aimed at helping us achieve our strategic ambition: Be the leader in materials and energy recovery. Powering the circular economy and the journey to a carbon positive future for Aotearoa New Zealand.
We collect New Zealanders’ waste, recycle and reuse as much as we can, and then safely dispose of what’s left in our modern, engineered landfills. There we capture over 90% of the landfill gas produced and convert it to electricity to feed back into the national grid. This helps power our growing electric truck fleet, which collects your waste.
When Amy Smith first joined the Waste Management team, she started as a gardener/labourer at our Rotorua site. Recognising her untapped potential, management encouraged Amy to upskill.
