Chantal began her career with Waste Management Napier as Logistics Support. An opportunity came up for Chantal’s family in Auckland, and they all relocated to beautiful Tāmaki Makaurau. Chantal continued to work remotely for the Hawke’s Bay team, but the lure of a career in sales called and Chantal is now a BDM (Business Development Manager) with our Upper North Island sales team. Chantal is a fantastic example of career progression at WM.
What do you do as BDM?
My role is to find new business. I find out what the customer needs, recommend a solution, and transition them to Waste Management and, hopefully, close the deal!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I really enjoy interacting with the different customers and knowing I'm having a positive impact on their experience with us. I love my job because everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to the mission of creating a circular economy. I love working alongside my acquisition team. They are always super motivated and inspire me daily.
What are some of the challenges?
It’s all about timing and getting in front of the decision makers. Some potential customers are not looking to change providers, so it’s my job to show them why a move to WM makes sense.
What do you wish more people knew about Waste Management?
The full range and scale of services and solutions that WM offers. I deal mainly with small businesses, but I take every opportunity to tell them about our work in the circular economy. WM is a leader, a one-stop shop and truly committed to sustainability.
Something interesting about you
I am a big fan of travelling and have been exploring New Zealand for the past two years. I have been to over 20 cities in the North Island. Some highlights include Taupo, Napier, Gisborne, Palmerston North, and my personal favourite, Wellington.
