Giving back to the community in Dairy Flat

The Dairy Flat Community Trust annual funding presentation was held last weekend at our Redvale Landfill and Energy Park.

A diverse group of community groups and individuals received funding, including the Dairy Flat School, the Dairy Flat and North Harbour pony clubs, the Hibiscus Coast Grandparents Parenting Grandchildren group, local university students and athletes across a range of sports.

Over the last twenty years in excess of $2 million has been given by Waste Management to the Trust. Each year, the Trust chooses a number of recipients in the community.

“We are proud to be able to support the Dairy Flat community in this way and provide a valuable source of funding for both community and individual projects,” says Tom Nickels, Waste Management Managing Director.”

“We are particularly pleased to have been able to support the local school over many years and the trust funds that they have received have enabled them to build a new school hall, and a larger car park. Now with  this recent funding the school is about to start putting a new kitchen in their hall.”

The Trust has also recently purchased a defibrillator for the local community which is housed at the local Caltex petrol station.

Waste Management established the Trust in July 1993 when the Redvale Landfill and Energy Park started to receive waste. The Trust has elected community representatives who distribute grants to benefit the local community.
