Soft Plastic Recycling Resumes in Dunedin and Mosgiel

Soft Plastic Recycling Resumes in Dunedin and Mosgiel teaser

After a short break from collecting soft plastics, our Dunedin Transfer Station is doing a great mahi collecting these products. They have teamed up with Packaging Forum, which supplies bins to locations around Dunedin.

Waste Management collects and bales the soft plastics, which will be transported to Future Post’s Blenheim facility for recycling into fence posts, designed for farms and wineries.

"The demand for soft plastic recycling in Dunedin has been very high since September and we've already collected over 100 bags of soft plastics. We're proud to be supporting our customers and promoting the circular economy within our great city," says Charlotte Lowe, Commercial Sales Specialist.

A big thanks to Mat Sutherland, our Dunedin Operations Manager, Allen Nesbit, our Operations Supervisor, and Greg Nel, Regional Manager, for getting this off the ground and to Les, our Engineering Contractor, who worked to revamp an old, unused baler to make this a success.
