Waste Management Wins at Skills Highway Champion Awards

Waste Management are proud to have been recognised at the recent Skills Highway Champion Awards which celebrate excellence in the workplace literacy and numeracy sector. Our Skills First programme was acknowledged across the following categories:

Clifton Griffiths of the Auckland Lunn Avenue Workshop team was highly commended in the Champion Learner category. Also from the Lunn Avenue Workshop, Tim Baro was highly commended in the Champion Mentor category for his support and mentoring of his Workshop team in their literacy and numeracy journey.

It was great also to see the Champion Learner Group receive a highly commended acknowledgement for their work creating an ongoing learning pathway in their Level 2 Engineering Certificate initiative. Congratulations Shane Turetahi, Clifton Griffiths, Livi Fata and Pamini Taufa.

Keeping the workplace communication support going in the form of the Skills First Champions network also won a commendation in the Innovation Award. Congratulations to our Skills First Champions: John Axmann at Rosedale Transfer Station, Cawood McCall at Redvale, Alan Waters at Papakura Transfer Station, Tim Baro and Pamini Taufa in the Lunn Ave Workshop.

Congratulations also go to Sharon Scott, HR National Corporate Services and HR Manager who won the Champion Employer Award for Waste Management’s Skills First programme.

The awards aim to recognise and acknowledge the hard work and great outcomes of work in the workplace literacy sector.

Thank you to our Skills First programme partner Upskills for helping us achieve these great results.
